Halloween Festival: The Lingering Fine Wine

Each year, phantoms and spirits will take to the streets of Central and Sheung Wan on Halloween. As it’s the spookiest time of the year again, Nan Fung Group’s community initiative “In Time Of” will present a Halloween event at Nan Fung Place, Sheung Wan from 28 to 30 October. The Halloween event includes the Sheung Wan Ghost Story-Music-Marathorn, “Uncle Salt’s Court” and a local craft wine pop up market and workshops, where you can just chill out and guzzle with others.

This year, with a focus on cultivating a food resilient future in the city, “In Time Of” has collaborated with several social stakeholders to produce a series of projects related to “Food” which will be held at Nan Fung Place. The Halloween event, comprising a series of activities and workshops, revolves around the theme of food and lifestyle. The Hong Kong Life Sciences Society, a subsidiary of Nan Fung Group, will be collaborating with Mak’s Brewery in launching the Honey Goji Beer and Sparkling Tea with Honey Goji Beer.

The craft wine market features a variety of local craft wine brands, together with cultural events partnering with Corrupt the Youth, artist Hanison Lau and the music brand OC2S. With an ultimate goal of promoting and supporting Hong Kong’s craft products, the event will bring a whole new experience to the public by experimenting how these local brands integrate with cultural events to unfold local narratives.

Cultural Activities

1)  Uncle Salt’s Court – Debate: The Righteousness of Consumption

Every one of us must have asked ourselves these questions when doing our grocery shopping: To buy local or global? To go for the affordable or the premium? Is taste the only consideration? Collaborating with “In Time of”, Uncle Salt from Corrupt the Youth is launching “Uncle’s Salt Court”, a debate theatre that allows participants to raise questions on the topic through role-playing as the defendant, prosecutor, defence attorney and jury members, while Uncle Salt rotates around different roles to round off or refute different viewpoints. Participants can take part in the event and enjoy the restaurant’s signature crêpes and redeem drinks by local brands.
