Inspired by the concept of a Resilient City, “In Time Of” programme is Nan Fung Group’s community initiative that connects people from all walks of life through social partnerships in sustainability, social design, and culture and arts.

“Embrace change, become the better person you want to be.”
Caring for the physical and mental wellness of urbanites is the annual theme of In Time Of 2023’s programme “Sports Date”. Sports Date 2023

Steered by forging community resilience towards a sustainable future, AIRSIDE is the latest exemplar of Nan Fung Group’s commitment to sustainability with a vision of creating a cohabitation for both humans and nature.
The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals have been adopted as the design blueprint for AIRSIDE. Every sustainable design detail has been carefully crafted in line with this framework to make AIRSIDE the first building in Hong Kong to receive five most recognised green-building certifications. These include LEED C&amp;S Platinum Certification, China Green Building Label 3 Stars, WELL Platinum Final, BEAM Plus Neighbourhood (ND) Platinum, and BEAM Plus New Building (NB) Platinum Provisional Certificate.
AIRSIDE is also advocating a sustainable green lifestyle supported by unique facilities, with a number of firsts in Hong Kong achieved, such as Hong Kong’s first smart bicycle parking system, automatic refuse collection system, and first Hong Kong commercial development connected to the Kai Tak District Cooling System, marking AIRSIDE as one of the most environmentally friendly landmarks in town.

A landmark for sustainable architecture

This year, In Time Of will organise a series of activities with a focus on cultivating a food resilient future in our city. ​
Events of &#8220;In Time Of Food&#8221; include: &#8220;TKO Plaza: Food Source and Positive Education&#8221;, &#8220;The Mills: Food and Community&#8221;, &#8220;NF Place: Food Culture, Life Science and Art&#8221; and &#8220;AIRSIDE: Food, Living and Story&#8221;, as well as a range of online programmes. ​

In Time of Food 2022

In Time of Nature – “In Time of Tree”
“In Time of Tree” programme collaborates with different community groups, social enterprises, local green organizations to launch a series of public activities to connect the community by using recycling concepts, literature, history, culture, and plants as mediums.
The programme has selected San Po Kong which is next to the AIRSIDE development as the target community, and aspires to develop lasting benefits to the community’s economy, and reshape a continuous relationship bridging humanity and nature.

In Time Of Tree

“In Time Of”has partnered with the curator MUSTHAVEKEYS to present “Up Close – Hollywood Road II”, featuring cultural scenes developed around Hollywood Road, i.e. the Antique Street. The works by six collaborating local artists will be showcased in Nan Fung Place in Sheung Wan as well as four antique galleries along Hollywood Road, reinterpreting and liberating age-old objects from their original status. The programme introduces history and modernity as well as art and craftsmanship to reconstruct public’s impression of antiquities and inspire new thinking between art and community.

Up Close – Hollywood Road II

“In Time Of” has partnered with local woodworker Ng Ting Ho, Roy to present the “Playing Woodstock: Hong Kong Woodwork”. The exhibition will be divided into 3 zones: Challenge zone, Imagination Zone and Open Zone to bring together 17 local woodworkers and 11 sets of interactive work. We hope to raise awareness for Hong Kong’s otherwise underrepresented woodwork and invite visitors of TKO Plaza for some hands-on family fun.

Playing Woodstock: Hong Kong Woodwork

“In Time Of” has launched a series of programmes in tribute to seed and soil. Through “A Date with Seeds&#8221;, which ran from July to August, we pondered on the relationship of seasonality between Mother Nature and the bounty that lies on our dining table. In the featured “Colours of the Earth”, we continue to explore the intricate links between seed and soil by uncovering the myriad hues through which nature communicates with us.
“Colours of the Earth” programme has invited experts from all spectrums, including farmers, as well as dye and installation artists from Taiwan and Hong Kong, to portray their distinctive colours of the earth for our exhibition. Through these programmes, we hope to curate a story that belongs to humans and nature.

“In Time Of” are happy to support the KIDZILLA vs EVEREST Charity Fitness Competition organised by <a style="color: #ff6900;" href="https://www.keepmovingproject.org/kidzilla-2021" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Keep Moving Project</a>. All are invited to conquer Everest together in an effort to support <a style="color: #ff6900;" href="https://love21foundation.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">LOVE21 Foundation</a>, a charity that empowers the Down Syndrome and autistic community in Hong Kong. ​

KIDZILLA vs EVEREST Charity Fitness Competition

“To serve only the seasonal ingredients on the dining table”, refers to the concept of only consuming foods harvested or produced in the current season. It not only benefits our health, but also the Mother of Nature, because the demand to cultivate crops during off-seasons requires more fertilizer, and possibly an artificial environment. These farming practices may increase carbon emissions, meanwhile degrade the soil, therefore damage the environment to a certain extent in the long run.
Through collaborations with different organizations concerning local agriculture, “A Date with Seeds” Program is upholding the hope to explore with the public, the relationships between crop seeds and the land, as well as the importance of only consuming seasonal foods. By means of a series of activities, the Program aims to promote sustainable development of local agriculture, reviewing its current situation and understanding our resources of foods, and ultimately, to nurture a collective respect to our land.

A Date with Seeds

In Time of Arts and Culture – “Nice to meet you, Kapok!”
Pedestrians come and go on the street, and the kapoks around are often left unnoticed. Humans and kapok trees may not interfere each other in their life respectively, but when the kapoks are in full bloom and bear fruits for reproduction, people often complain about the fluffy kapok fibres flying in the air. Conflicts between trees and humans arise, and some people suggest sterilising or even felling the trees. Shall we listen to the nature for now and share our community with our trees?
“Nice to meet you, Kapok!” programme features the seasonal kapok trees as a medium to connect the community by inviting the public to discover the concept of “human-tree symbiosis”, appreciate the beauty that surrounds us in our daily lives and establish a closer bond between humanity and nature.
Collaborating with local artists and organisations from different aspects, the programme is going to showcase kapok trees in Hong Kong and its usage under the themes of clothing, food, living and travelling through a series of activities and exhibitions, fostering a better understanding of the values of the trees to the community and allowing public to get closer to the nature through the campaign.

In Time of Tree

In Time of History – “Manhole Covers Exhibition”
While walking along the main streets and alleys, people rarely pay attention to the humble manhole covers under their feet. But in fact, they are an indispensable part of the city’s public facilities and infrastructures. They serve as entry points for workers to conduct underground inspections of vital utilities and ensure that we all enjoy reliable water, gas, and electricity supplies as well as the broadband networks which all help to maintain our comfortable lives. The covers also act as openings for an advanced urban drainage system that protects residents against flooding under extreme weather conditions. They have also had a long historical development in Hong Kong. Their unique and evolving designs, materials, and production technology illustrate the century-old development of the city’s pig iron casting industry and the evolution of public works.
“In Time Of” has partnered with The Conservancy Association Centre for Heritage (CACHe) to present the “Manhole Covers Exhibition” at Nan Fung Place, Sheung Wan. The unique exhibition showcases a selection of the city’s manhole covers to encourage the public to discover the history and industrial story of Hong Kong from one of the most common, yet rarely examined, aspects of the urban landscape.
